Gustava Nicolina "Cindy" (Moore) Boyd, 98, of Plankinton, SD passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at Faulkton Senior Living. Funeral Services are 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to services on Thursday.
Gustava Nicolina "Cindy" (Moore) Boyd was born on January 3, 1922 to George E. and Minnie (Yort) Moore on her grandparent’s farm northwest of White Lake, SD. She attended school through her sophomore year in White Lake, her junior year in Hemmingford, NE and graduated in 1940 from Patten Consolidated School in White Lake. She was united in marriage to Robert Clinton Boyd on May 18, 1941 at the United Methodist Church parsonage in White Lake.
An excellent homemaker, Gustava took pride in her housekeeping, cooking and sewing. She had a green thumb and could raise anything, canning and sharing what she grew. She also raised chickens for eggs and butchering. She enjoyed listening to her husband, daughter and family sing and play the piano and accordion.
Cindy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plankinton where she lived from 1941 to 2015. She relocated to the nursing home in Aberdeen, SD from 2015 – 2018 and was currently a resident of Faulkton Senior Living since 2018.
Grateful for having shared in Cindy’s life: her daughter, Carol Schaeffer of Plankinton, SD; three grandchildren: Henry Kiehn of Aberdeen, SD, Rebecca Rush of Cresbard, SD and Pamela (Paul) Pierce of Tea, SD; four great grandchildren: Jeremiah Kiehn and Dallas Kiehn both of Denver, CO, Samantha Rush and Mary Rush both of Cresbard, SD; along with many nieces and nephews.
Gustava was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Clinton Boyd (Nov. 30, 2001); a son-in-law, Bob Schaeffer; two sons in infancy, Robert Dean and Ronald Dale Boyd; her parents, George and Minnie Moore; a brother, George Moore; two sisters: Ada (Dave) Larson and Catherine (Harold) Boyd; and two sisters that were stillborn.
